The Smuggler's Hub
An Advanced Star Wars Roleplay, set during the Galactic Empire and centered around Nar Shadaa, the Smuggler's Moon, and all of the denizens living thereon. The Smuggler's Hub has a two-hundred word mimimum limit per post and the plot involves anyone from Jedi to gamblers. There are two active administrators and firmly set rules to avoid any of the cliche`s that usually plague Star Wars roleplay sites. The main plot is very loosely defined, allowing for plenty of side plots and character interaction. Although there are no canon characters, there are various plot positions open - and, of course, one can easily make his own place in the story.[/i]
Order 66 destroyed the Jedi order and brought on the rise of the Empire. Of course, with so many Jedi, they couldn’t all be dead. Matter of fact, more than a few of them were overlooked in the destruction - the less talented knights and apprentices out on backwater planets, the undercover agents who had their tracks covered anyway. Some managed to fake their own deaths. Others had been reported dead before the order even went out. However it happened, enough of the Jedi survived to receive a message commanding them to destroy their lightsabers and hide.
Not all of the Jedi thought that plan was so hot. Some of them decided to continue the efforts to destroy the Empire. These, often, were discovered and killed. Others decided to blend in with their environments and save the galaxy in the best way available..while making a profit.
A group of Jedi Knights and Padawans gathered together on the Smuggler’s Moon, Nar Shaddaa, responding to a message on a private channel. Their leader, Tahnliar ‘Nar’ Firestorm, ordered them to hide their lightsabers and blend in with the populace. The Jedi, effectively, stopped becoming Jedi and became common shareholders in a newly-formed company - SMed, Inc.
Outwardly, it was a computer equipment company that was a thinly-disguised front for a drug-running business. In reality, it was the Jedi’s private crime-fighting and money-making venture. After all, if they are going to live ‘normal’ lives, they ought to have jobs and stuff. The company has an office, to this end, but it mostly runs out of the local bar, ‘The Smuggler’s Hub’, and on street corners between the office and there. Everyone knows about them, although not always that they’re Jedi..and, since SMed Inc. is the best thing to happen to Nar Shaddaa since Imperial Stormtroopers, nobody will turn them in if they do. Still, nobody can use lightsabers or the Force in public. Just because the locals are mostly in favor of the Jedi doesn’t mean they ought to attract the Empire.
Of course, the company isn’t just for ex-Jedi. SMed Inc. also attracts drug smugglers, runaway slaves, slave owners, high-stakes gamblers, and hoboes off the streets. And, of course, there are the Imperials and the Hutts, waiting around the next corner to mop up the remains when it all collapses..
